My Philosophy on Life
Every day I feel gratitude for two significant influences on my life. The first is my family, and the other is my unwavering belief in God and a greater purpose.
When I was young, I found out I had a tumour on my spine at the base of my brain which was paralyzing the right side of my body. I needed multiple high-risk surgeries over several years to remove the tumour and deal with other related complications. During that time, I learned that love of family, community and God’s healing are what matters in life.
I also lost 2 close family members. These experiences became life lessons and taught me empathy for others, resiliency in the face of challenges, comfort in chaos, to trust in a higher power and purpose, and the philosophy of Carpe Diem.
None of us know how long we have. Every day is a blessing, and we can’t ignore our purpose for being here. Despite life’s difficulties there is so much to be grateful for.
Through my extensive career, I worked in senior leadership and fundraising roles in children’s services, health care, and college and university settings and have led teams in-person and remotely.
As a Leadership Consultant and Spiritual Intelligence Coach, I help create environments that foster holistic, creative, vibrant, forward-thinking organizational cultures where each individual is honoured and valued for their contributions; where leaders and teams can experience calm, even when there is chaos.
My Philosophy on Leadership
As humans, we are all interconnected. Each of us has a purpose and is a leader in some capacity. Some people have formal titles and roles, while others lead from beside, behind or below. (Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of those positional metaphors because we all need each other and are part of a living system.)
Leading happens at work, in families and in communities. We are doing our best work as leaders when we inspire people to understand themselves and their gifts, to grow those gifts, and to use them to serve others and a higher purpose.
As a Leadership Consultant and Spiritual Intelligence Coach, I help create environments that foster holistic, creative, vibrant, forward-thinking organizational cultures where each individual is honoured and valued for their contributions; where leaders and teams can experience calm, even when there is chaos.
I used to think leaders were expected to have all the answers. Now I know we don’t have every answer, nor do we need to. We just need to remain curious, open, lift each other up, and listen well so we can hear creative ideas and create paths forward.
The best moments for me are when I see the light turn on in my clients’ eyes and their shoulders drop as they see possibilities opening up before them. To explore your possibilities or that of your team, contact me today. I am available to answer your questions.
